When someone is arrested and taken to a
California jail, they can expect to be in police custody for 5 to 7 hours
before they are released.
There are several different factors
that come into how soon you’ll be released. For example, how busy the jail is,
how many other people have been arrested and how quickly the bail bond
agent was contacted.
When someone is booked, they’ll be
photographed and fingerprinted to undergo a national background and warrant
check. The warrant check often takes 4 to 6 hours to complete and
the jailers will not allow any defendant to post bail bonds until after these
results come back.
In the meantime, you’ll want to contact
a bail bondsman right away. The California Bail Bond Agent can monitor where your loved one is
and can begin working on the bail and jail booking process so they can be ready
to post the bail bonds as soon as the jail is ready to accept it.
